Robots - Example

Delta robots handle the most complex and difficult tasks that would otherwise require a continuous supply of expensive humans! The UK's leading supplier of crisp snack foods have robotic feed systems coupled to AMP-Rose flowrappers. The primary UK supplier of popcorn uses delta robots to pack their multi-pack products with TISOMI and AMP flowrappers. At the heart of these systems is midasmotion equipment, software, and know-how which has transformed these packing lines from manual labour intensive to continuous automated lines requiring almost zero labour .

Until recently delta style robots for the packaging industry were only available from the huge concerns of Bosch or ABB. What's changed is the strongly enforced patents that maintained this position have run out. So with commercial and technical restrictions removed, midasmotion have teamed up with Adept to supply the fastest and most efficient quality robot solutions.

By combining the flowrapper, robot and vision technologies into a single source we can supply total solutions with amazing capabilities at a very competitive price and with real expert support based locally in the UK.

midasmotion can supply and integrate Adept delta robots into single, double, quad or more robot cells. Single robot cells are commonly used as a basisi for cartoners, carton fillers, box fillers. Twin or more robot cells are commonly used for pick-and-place applications such as placing and collating products into a moving flowrapper infeed. Complex applications include multi-pack snack food - multi-pack crisps and popcorn etc. Such applications can perform rapid complex tasks and may include vision systems to orientate and collate products into a single pack, tray or directly into a moving flow-wrapper infeed pitch. Until recently the only choice was abb flex-picker or bosch demaurex delta robots but since their patent ran out Adept and others are offering faster and better systems. Typically a multi-head weigher deposits products into a vertical bagger or vertical form-fill-seal machine. This produces individual bags which flow through a seal tester and check weigher with a combined reject station. The individual bags are then flow into a delta robot cell. The robot operates in conjunction with a vision system and picks and orientates the individual bags. The robot collates the individual bags into groups and deposits them into a carton or places them into the moving infeed of a flow-wrapper. The cartoner closes and seals the cartons when full while the flowrapper produces multi-pack products which then flow through a final check-weigher and another carton erector and carton sealer and closer. Adept-midasmotion systems use a 4 axis spider type robot, others use a 3 axis plus a rotating axis. Our delta robot uses 4 axis for controlling the robot head position head and automatic rotation.
